Although it was getting close, I'm still wasn't happy with it. I decided to tear it into strips and re-evaluate with it, and I'm liking it much more....not sure how it will end up:)

Maybe it's the move to Austin, or Covid...but my studio had been beckoning me, and I'm really happy about it. I've had a few commssions that have helped nudge me into the right direction.
These paintings of the tigress and the dragonfly have been a lot of fun though. So much so, that I'm thinking of basing a children's bookon her. She was originally inspired by my love of Foo Dogs, Tibetan Folk Art Tattoos and my crazy little dog, Griselda.

Working on a 10 part series, and possibly a childrens book:) See them under the paintings tab on my site...

Miss Havisham was exhibited along with Mother for a show at the airport. Miss H is from a series that I did with wire and books. If you're familiar with the story, she is an old eccentric lady who mourns the loss of her love, who left her on the day of their nuptuals...she wanders around in her old mansion, still in her wedding gown, living in the past.
The wire piece is life size, and the train is made from pages from Great Expectaions...and it is approximately 12 feet long.
Mother is a mixed media piece incorporating an old dress from the late 1800's with canvas, paint and delicate graphite mark making.

This will be at Kennedy-Douglas Art Center this month…Inspired by the book The Night Circus [Erin Morgenstern], it combines 2D and 3D by using both charcoal and wire to create a drawing. I sketched the 'shadow drawing' by projecting light through my wire piece onto the canvas, just like the old silhouette portraits.
